Group Home Services

The youth home program is based on a structured level system. It is designed to be completed within six months of entry. Emphasis is placed on making responsible choices, communication, accountability, and problem solving skills.

Youth Care Workers (YCW) provide 24 hour supervision while maintaining a home-like structured environment. They offer guidance and feedback, act as appropriate role models, maintain confidentiality, prepare nutritious meals, and assist implementing Individual Service Plans of Care.

Independent Living Skills are taught on a daily basis. Weekly groups focus on employment skills, money management, vocational and/or college entrance preparation, and leisure time activities.

Court orders are required for any placement over thirty days. Legal custody is retained by the Department of Family Services while physical custody is with YDS.

The program is based on a level system designed to be completed in 6 months or less depending upon the needs of the youth and family.
